Hot Springs NC accommodations cover more ground than you’d expect for a town of fewer than 700 people — from a riverside campsite on the French Broad River and an AT trailhead hostel to a restored 1890s Victorian inn, private waterfall cabins, and glamping on 160 acres of national forest-adjacent land. Here’s every place to stay in Hot Springs NC for 2026, with reviews, pricing context, and what each option is actually best for.

Iron Horse Station Inn

Iron Horse Station inn and restaurant Hot Springs NC accommodations on Bridge Street

24 S Andrews Ave, Hot Springs · Downtown · On the AT

The most central of all Hot Springs NC accommodations — Iron Horse Station sits directly on Bridge Street in the heart of downtown, steps from the AT trailhead, the mineral springs, and every restaurant in town. The 1890s landmark inn has been extensively restored and offers 15 guest rooms, each with private bathroom, handcrafted beds, transom windows, and mountain views. Room styles are named after Pullman sleeper cars. Some rooms feature Jacuzzi tubs. There’s a guest lounge with fireplace, large-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi throughout. No TVs or phones in rooms — by design.

Now under new ownership by Mark and Ladda Salter as of spring 2026, the inn is operating alongside the newly relaunched restaurant and tavern. Tripadvisor reviewers from prior ownership consistently praised the historic charm — “such a cute, clean historic hotel” and “so old timey, we loved that we could walk out of our room and down the stairs for dinner and drinks.” One practical note: trains pass through at approximately 3am and 6am — light sleepers should know.

Best for: Couples wanting walkable downtown access · AT thru-hikers wanting a comfortable night · Anyone who wants to be in the center of everything

Mountain Magnolia Inn — Bed & Breakfast

Mountain Magnolia Inn bed and breakfast Hot Springs NC Victorian inn

204 Lawson St, Hot Springs · Walking distance to downtown

A lovingly restored 150-year-old Victorian inn — walking distance to downtown but set in a park-like garden setting that feels removed from the activity of Bridge Street. Mountain Magnolia operates as a traditional Hot Springs NC bed and breakfast with private rooms, a Stone Cabin on Spring Creek with outdoor hot tub and wraparound deck, and breakfast served on the outdoor patio of the historic main house. The grounds feature ancient trees, gardens, and Spring Creek running through the property.

Tripadvisor and Yelp reviewers give it high marks for charm, cleanliness, and setting. One reviewer described the Stone Cabin as “right next to Spring Creek — we enjoyed listening to the sounds of the river and relaxing” and praised the breakfast as “excellent, especially on the outdoor patio.” Another called it “worth every ounce of your time and money if you need to get away for a weekend to a quaint and relaxing atmosphere.” Note: dinner service has ended; breakfast only. 289 NW Hwy 25/70, Hot Springs · AT Trailhead

As of March 2026, Laughing Heart Lodge and Hostel are temporarily closed for renovations. Check laughingheartlodge.com for reopening updates before planning around this property.

When open, it is one of the most beloved Hot Springs NC lodging options — a historic 1892 lodge at the southern AT trailhead, literally the first building thru-hikers encounter entering Hot Springs from the south. The lodge offers individually decorated rooms (the Monarch Room features a king bed, mountain view, and deep soaking tub), continental breakfast, and a 9.8 rating on Booking.com. The adjacent hostel caters to AT hikers with bunk rooms, shared kitchen, and laundry service. Worth bookmarking for when it reopens.

Hot Springs Resort & Spa — Campground & Cabins

Hot Springs Resort and Spa campground on the French Broad River Hot Springs NC

315 Bridge St, Hot Springs · On the French Broad River · Open

The anchor of Hot Springs NC accommodations — a 100-acre property directly on the French Broad River where the AT crosses through town. Over 100 tent sites ranging from primitive riverside sites to group sites with electrical hookup, eight primitive camping cabins, full RV hookups with 50-amp service, and four luxury Jacuzzi suites. All guests get discounted access to the mineral spring soaking pools across the road.

The riverside tent sites are the star — site F1, the deluxe riverside group site, shows up in multiple travel blogs as one of the best campsites in western NC. Campendium and Tripadvisor reviewers consistently praise the river access, the walkability to town, and the unique combination of camping and mineral spring soaking. RV campers note it’s one of the very few campgrounds where you can park and walk to restaurants and a brewery. Practical notes: bathhouses are dated but functional; hot showers are seasonal; late-night train noise. RV access is easiest via I-26 from Asheville or I-40. For more detail see our Hot Springs NC campground guide.
