Waterfalls are your constant companion no matter how high up the mountain you climb.
A Trail Built Into Nature: Explore Three Distinct Levels of Adventure
The trail system, built personally and by hand using resources found on the property, was a labor of love designed to give guests a memorable and challenging hike. The trail has several entrances, the closest starting right behind the guest house and rises via switchbacks to the mountain’s peak. There are three distinct pathways to cross to the upper reaches and each connected by smaller trails. In addition, there is yet another trail connects with the main system that runs around the back side of the mountain for some extra intrigue.
The terrain can be steep at times, but it was made accessible by constructing stairs from logs cut from fallen trees and large stones sourced from the area. As you ascend, you’ll encounter small caves, smaller to enormous rock outcroppings, and plenty of lush ferns lining the trails. More true magic comes from the moss that’s been carefully transplanted and then propagated. While it looks great in places now, it will eventually cover the entire trail system and offer a soft, green pathway that complements the natural beauty of the surroundings.
If you’d like a shorter, easier stroll, you can also explore the wide moss-covered path that gently leads upward from the house to the top of the property. Following the symphony of the creek as it tumbles over large boulder formations and waterfalls. Whether you’re walking along the creekside or traversing the higher sections of the trail, the constant sound of flowing water will be your backdrop, offering a soothing ambiance you won’t want to leave. No one ever does.
Waterfalls and Wildlife: A Sensory Experience
One of the most memorable aspects of our trail system is the presence of the waterfalls. The water has a healthy flow year-round—even in drought—and you can hear their constant soothing sounds no matter where you are on the trails. In some spots, especially when the trees are fully leafed out in summer, you can even catch glimpses of them through the foliage. The trail also offers direct access to the creek in three places, where you’ll find large boulders perfect for resting, meditating, or simply taking in the tranquility of the flowing water.
